Pets Lifeline Website Redesign

Pets Lifeline is an animal shelter located in Sonoma county, California. I redesign its official website to a more actionable, accessible, and visually consistent website by implementing knowledge gained from the information architecture and visual design course.

Actionable Navigation

Card Components and Buttons

Focusing on why people visit the website and the shelter’s business goal of increasing donations, I prioritized actionable cards at the top. I used card components to create a cleaner, more organized layout.

Less is more

Less Visual Clutter, More Actionable Focus

The website originally had too many images without a proper layout, which made the page look cluttered and distracting. I simplified the design by replacing most images with cleaner icons to create a more organized and focused look.

More Compact

Using Less Space BUT more Readable

The section highlighting the shelter’s values and awards was too spread out, requiring excessive scrolling to find key information. I rearranged the content into a more compact and streamlined layout to improve readability and make it easier to find important details.

Higher Color Contrast

Small Changes, Big Impact

The original buttons used thin outline styles with low color contrast, making them hard to read and less accessible. I updated them with thicker outline buttons and improved the contrast to enhance visibility and usability.

CMS-Ready

Component-driven Design

The event section needed frequent updates, so I created a carousel using card components with a consistent style and layout to make future updates through the CMS easier.
